Held at the QEII Centre in the heart of Westminster, our annual, two-day conference proved to be a disruptive learning and networking experience.

FinTech LIVE London 2023 gave leading lights from across the industry an opportunity to showcase their latest strategies, projects and innovations, while attendees soaked up valuable insight and expertise.

On day two, proceedings began on Stage 1 with the Women in FinTech Forum, featuring:

Flipping the script

The Women in FinTech Forum opened up an important discussion, asking what must be done to further advocate and advance gender equality in the sector.

Painting an honest picture, Torteman said: “In digital finance you have consulting, technology, finance and investments. Taking those four separately, they are pretty much dominated by men.

“In most cases I am the only woman in the room, specifically in crypto and blockchain. There is still a long way to go, and I think women should stand up more for one another.”

Offering advice to the next generation of female fintech talent, Wood added: "Be curious, be confident and trust in your own capabilities.

"Reach out; there are lots of women who are willing to sit down and have conversations around career situations."

Encouraging the audience to take a step back, McWilliam continued: "If you take new streams, like crypto a few years ago, it's a new area. There isn't this provenance of knowledge.

"Your opinion is as good as any because it is a new technology, because strategy isn't fully formed yet, and because it is fundamentally disruptive. If you take that mindset, to say 'nobody here is an expert', that gives you a natural entry that perhaps would make you more comfortable."
